Secret Bright Ingredients

Secret Bright's active ingredients are kojic acid, alpha-arbutin, and lactic acid. These natural ingredients help to lighten and even out your skin tone without causing irritation. Alpha-arbutin is effective by itself but when combined with kojic acid and lactic acid, it is even more effective. The lactic acid helps the other ingredients to penetrate deeper into your skin.

Kojic Acid

Kojic acid is produced from rice as a by-product of the sake production process or extracted from mushrooms. It lightens skin by hindering melanin production. Kojic acid works in much the same way as hydroquinone, another skin lightener, but is much safer to use. It is also used in the treatment of hyperpigmentation and melasma.

a-Arbutin

Arbutin is a natural skin lightener that is derived from cranberry, mulberry, or blueberry plants. Arbutin is a derivative of hydroquinone but does not have any of the side effects. Rather than killing off cells, it prevents the cells from producing excess pigmentation. Medical studies demonstrate that arbutin is effective and since it comes from plants, it is considered safer than many chemical depigmenting agents used to bleach skin. There are actually two forms of arbutin: alpha and beta. Alpha-arbutin is more stable and therefore works better and faster for lightening skin.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which helps to stop excess melanin production and gently exfoliates away the overly pigmented cells. Alpha hydroxy acids can help other skin lightening ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. Lactic acid works like glycolic acid, another AHA, but is gentler and better suited for intimate bleaching.

Carota Sativa (Carrot) Extract

Carrots contain carotenes, which are rich in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an essential vitamin for keeping your skin healthy and aids in the repair of damaged skin cells. Some studies have shown that Vitamin A may even help to prevent skin cells from producing excess pigmentation in the first place.
